Synchronized Swimming `A’ Team Finishes Second in Team Semifinal – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming `A’ team finished second behind Stanford in the team semifinal Friday at the 2006 Collegiate National Championships at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif. The Buckeyes scored 96.000 points to the Cardinal’s 97.000. The Scarlet and Gray also competed in technical elements on the second day of competition.
The Buckeye `B’ team placed third in the team semifinal and both Ohio State routines advanced to the finals and will battle for top honors Saturday.
OSU freshman Kendra Sollars (Scottsdale, Ariz./Arizona Aqua Stars) finished first in the `B’ figures competition, scoring a 72.526 to outdistance her nearest competitor by almost a point (Elizabeth Chinoransky, Incarnate Word – 71.648).
In the `A’ element event, three Buckeyes finished in the Top 12. Becky Kim (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif./Walnut Creek Aquanuts) performed a fifth-place 79.589 and twin sisters Leah and Leayn Pinette finished 11th (77.768) and 12th (77.754), respectively.
The solo, duet, trio and team finals are set for Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. PST with the trio finals. The overall team scores also will be totaled following the completion of the four routine events. Complete results can be found online at www.usasynchro.org.
