Women’s Soccer Buckeyes Garner NSCAA/adidas Scholar Awards – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s soccer Buckeyes Emily Francis, Amanda Ball and Keiana Mitchell earned 2006 NSCAA/adidas College Women Scholar awards. Francis was placed on the third team in the East Region and Ball and Mitchell were named to the honorable mention squad.
A senior tri-captain in 2006, Francis (Alliance, Ohio/Ohio Premier) is a marketing major who started all 19 games as a defender for the Buckeyes. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete. In 2006, Francis helped the Ohio State defense record six shutouts on the season, while also recording four assists.
Ball (Jr., Centerville, Ohio/Cardinals) is a psychology major who started all 19 contests in the midfield for the Buckeyes. She is an Academic All-Big Ten recipient and a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete. During the season, Ball played an integral role on both sides of the ball, helping Ohio State amass 21 goals and 15 assists and aiding the OSU defense in recording six shutouts.
A history major, Mitchell (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Country Day) also started all 19 matches as a defender for Ohio State. Mitchell has two Academic All-Big Ten and two OSU Scholar-Athlete honors to her credit. Offensively, Mitchell had one goal and two assists in 2006.
