Ohio State Synchronized Swimming Scores 93 Points to Win Ohio Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team scored 93 points to finish first at the Ohio Invitational Sunday at the OU Aquatic Center in Athens, Ohio. The Buckeyes swept all three routines for the second-consecutive meet to beat the Ohio `A’ team (78.750), Ohio `B’ team (70.333) and Miami (67.667).
Becky Kim (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif./Walnut Creek Aquanuts) recorded the highest mark of the meet, scoring a 95.667 in the solo to earn a first-place standing. Kim bettered her score from a week ago by more than five points, as she notched a 90.500 at the OSU Tri-Meet Jan. 21.
A pair of Buckeye trio routines finished first and second, with the group of Ellen Hacker (Jr., Newark, Ohio/Columbus Coralinas), Kim and Carmen Moraes (Fr., Rio de Janeiro/Tyvca Tenis Clube) scoring a 94.333 to win. Michelle Benzie (So., El Cajon, Calif./Sweetwater Dolphins), Carly Grimshaw (Sr., Markham, Ontario/Synchro Optima) and Chelsea Luker (Sr., Montreal, Quebec/Montreal Synchro) were second, recording a 90.000.
Grimshaw and Luker won duet, compiling a 92.667 to improve on their 89.000 from the OSU Tri-Meet. Hacker and Moraes also bettered their marks, scoring a 90.667 compared to an 86.500 from last week.
Ohio State returns to action when it hosts the OSU College Association Meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
