Three Buckeyes Invited to USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s hockey forwards Tom Fritsche and Domenic Maiani and goaltender Ian Keserich, who all will be sophomores in 2005-06, were among 43 players invited to attend the 2005 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp Aug. 5-14 in Lake Placid, N.Y. Participating players are candidates for the 2006 U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2006 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2005-Jan. 5, 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia, including the best players under the age of 20 in the world.
The evaluation camp will feature eight international scrimmages Aug. 9-13 with a split squad of American players facing off against Sweden and Finland.
Fritsche, from Parma, Ohio, was named the insidecollegehockey.com (INCH) National Freshman of the Year and to the 2005 Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) All-Rookie Team after leading the Buckeyes with 45 points, including a team-best 34 assists and a +21 rating in all 42 games. He tied for the national lead in points among rookies and tied for the overall CCHA lead in assists.
Shelby Township, Mich., native Maiani played in 40 games for Ohio State as a freshman, posting 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points to rank fourth (tied) on the squad. He earned honorable mention league all-rookie team honors.
Keserich, a Parma, Ohio, native, played in six games for the Buckeyes as a rookie, posting a 2-2 record with a 2.42 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. He will be one of four goalies in the evaluation camp.
