Ohio State Synchronized Swimming Takes Second in Team Semifinal – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team (21-0) competed in the team semifinals as well as technical elements competition Friday in the second day of competition at the 2005 Collegiate National Championships. The event, which will wrap up Saturday, is being held at the O’Connell Aquatic Center in Gainesville, Fla.
Stanford edged Ohio State in the team event, recording a mark of 98.500 in the competition, compared the Buckeyes’ 98.400. Both routines advanced to the finals and will battle for top honors Saturday.
Ohio State sophomore Becky Kim (Walnut Creek, Calif./Northgate) placed seventh in `A’ figures with a score of 78.667, while teammates Carly Grimshaw (Jr., Markham, Ontario/Markham District) and Lindsay Newbill (Sr., Laguana Hills, Calif./Laguana Hills) finished 10th and 12th, respectively. Sophomore Brooke Paul (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) earned a sixth-place finish in `B’ figures with a score of 72.514.
The finals of the solo, duet, trio and team events are set for Saturday, beginning at 10:25 a.m. with the trio finals. The overall team scores also will be totaled following the completion of the four routine events. Complete results can be found online at www.usasynchro.org.
