Ohio State Wins Final Exhibition 100-67 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s basketball team closed out its exhibition season with a 100-67 win over visiting Ashland Sunday at Value City Arena.
Junior Ron Lewis led the Buckeyes with 18 points in 19 minutes. He also grabbed five rebounds in the win. Senior Terence Dials scored 12 points in 12 minutes while junior Ivan Harris contributed 10 points.
All 10 Buckeyes in uniform scored at least eight points and played at least 12 minutes as Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach, experimented with several lineup combinations throughout the game.
Ashland was led by Vahn Knight with 15 points and Justin Brown grabbed a team high nine rounds to go along with 11 points.
Ohio State’s J.J. Sullinger was credited with 11 rebounds, giving him 21 in the Buckeyes’ two exhibition games. Sophomore Jamar Butler led the Buckeyes in assists with eight. He committed just one turnover in his 23 minutes of court time. He also added two steals and did not miss a shot from the field (3-3) on his way to nine points.
The Buckeyes won the battle of the boards 45-32 and held Ashland to 36 percent shooting from the field (24-67).
The regular season opens Nov. 20 at Value City Arena with a 2 p.m. game against Chicago State. The Buckeyes also will play two days later against Butler at VCA with a scheduled tip time of 8 p.m. The Chicago State game will be televised locally on WWHO Ch. 53. The Butler game will be televised locally on WBNS 10-TV.
