COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore’s Jamar Butler, a guard from Lima, Ohio, and Matt Terwilliger, a center from Troy, Ohio, will miss the Ohio State men’s basketball season and home opener Nov. 20 (2 p.m.) vs. Chicago State for a violation of NCAA bylaw 14.7.2.
Both student-athletes participated on the same team in a three-on-three tournament at a YMCA last spring near their hometowns, which is considered impermissible outside competition by the NCAA.
The two will be available to participate in Ohio State’s final exhibition game Sunday vs. Ashland and then again Nov. 22 against Butler (8 p.m.) at Value City Arena.
