Ohio State First Varsity Eight Named Big Ten Boat of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third consecutive week, the Ohio State rowing first varsity eight was named the Big Ten Boat of the Week. The Buckeyes improved to 5-0 on the season following victories over Virginia and Duke the weekend.
The first-ranked OSU first varsity eight defeated No. 6 Virginia and No. 20 Duke at the ACC/Big Ten Double Duals Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., to continue its undefeated streak. The Buckeyes edged Virginia by 4.9 seconds, finishing the race in 6:33.6. In the afternoon, Ohio State beat Duke by 13.9 seconds, as the Buckeyes finished with a time of 6:38.4 to Duke’s 6:52.3.
Members of the winning boat were Susi Wesenberg (Sr., Rostock, Germany), Ellen Maas (Fr., Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Amanda Purcell (Jr., Hilliard, Ohio), Ninett Kossowsky (So., Leipzig, Germany), Wilma Dressel (Fr., Dortmund, Germany), Anna Fago (Fr., Giessen, Germany), Diana Albrecht (Jr., Dresden, Germany), Tatiana Grigorieva (Sr., Moscow, Russia) and coxswain Ashley Orr (Sr., Dublin, Ohio).
The award marks the third consecutive week the Buckeyes have been honored as Big Ten Boat of the Week. Ohio State received boat of the week March 27 and April 5.
No. 1 Ohio State will face No. 14 Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota Saturday on Lake Lemon in Bloomington, Ind.
