Attendance: 16,445 Ohio State will be the No. 9 seed in the BigTen tournament next weekend and will face Indiana in the firstround at noon Thursday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Threesenior student-athletes and three senior managers were honoredprior to the game vs. Illinois Sunday. Shaun Smith (Cincinnati,Ohio), Shun Jenkins (Albany, Ga.) and Velimir Radinovic ( Oakville,Ontario) played in their final home games for the Buckeyes.Managers Brad Smith (Perrysburg, Ohio), Erik Zadrozny (Hudson,Ohio) and Jordan Warfield (Hudson, Ohio) also completed four-yearcareers as men’s basketball managers. Ohio State’s starting lineupof junior Brandon Fuss-Cheatham, sophomore Ricardo Billings, juniorTony Stockman, senior Velimir Radinovic and sophomore Terence Dialsmade their second-consecutive appearance overall against theIllini. The Buckeye bench outscored the Illinois bench, 8-0 in thefirst half and 16-2 for the game. Ohio State kept the game close byshooting 15-of-23 (.652) in the second half. The Buckeyes fell to9-10 in games played on March 7. With the victory, Illinois claimedits first outright Big Ten title since 1952. The win alsosolidified the No. 1 seed for the Illini in the Big Ten tournament.The win Sunday by Illinois marked the first time it has won inValue City Arena since it opened for the 1998-99 season.
