Ohio State Rowing First Varsity Eight Named Big Ten Boat of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference named the Ohio State rowing first varsity eight Big Ten Boat of the Week Monday. The ninth-ranked boat earned the award for upsetting No. 1 Brown and No. 3 Princeton Saturday in Princeton, N.J.
The first varsity eight opened its season with a victory as it finished the race in 6:26.2, 4.63 seconds ahead of Princeton. Brown finished third with a time of 6:32.80. Members of the winning boat were Susi Wesenberg (Sr., Rostock, Germany), Ellen Maas (Fr., Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Amanda Purcell (Jr., Hilliard, Ohio), Ninett Kossowsky (So., Leipzig, Germany), Wilma Dressel (Fr., Dortmund, Germany), Anna Fago (Fr., Giessen, Germany), Diana Albrecht (Jr., Dresden, Germany), Tatiana Grigorieva (Sr., Moscow, Russia) and coxswain Ashley Orr (Sr., Dublin, Ohio). This marks just the second time since 2000 an OSU boat received the Big Ten weekly honor.
Ohio State will play host to defending 2003 Big Ten Champions No. 2 Michigan at 10 a.m. April 3 at Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio.
