Robert Morris (1-0) and Morgan State (0-1) both opened itsseason Monday in the first game of the Guardians Classic in ValueCity Arena. The Bears and Colonials met for just the second time inschool history. Morgan State won the first meeting 90-82 in anovertime game played in Baltimore, Md., during the 1976-77 season.The series is tied at one win apiece.

Robert Morris is 15-14 all-time in season openers. SeniorMaurice Carter led the Colonials with a game-high 22 points againstthe Bears. Joseph Ison also tallied 14 points and Chaz McCrommonadded 10 points and a team-high eight boards. The Colonials returnto the floor tomorrow to face the winner of tonight’s second game.The game time will be announced following the Ohio State-Towsoncontest.
Morgan State Notes
Timothy Mathis paced Morgan State with 11 points and RonaldTimis chipped in five points and added six rebounds. The Bearsreturn to action tomorrow against the loser of the OhioState-Towson game. Official game times will be announced followingthe second game tonight.
