Ohio State Postgame Notes
With the 69-61 loss to Indiana Tuesday night, the Buckeyesdropped just their second contest in their last eight home games.Ohio State now owns a 6-3 record as the home team this season. Theloss Tuesday night helped IU improve its lead in the all-timeseries to 96-68, including a 34-47 record in Columbus. Despite theloss, the Buckeyes have won four of the last seven meetings inColumbus and three of the last five at Value City Arena. Ohio Stateheld Indiana to 42.6 percent field goal percentage (20-47) in theloss as the Buckeyes dropped to 9-6 when holding opponents under 50percent from the field. The Buckeyes owned a 15-9 edge in offensiverebounds, which led to a 20-10 advantage over Indiana in secondchance points. Ohio State senior center Velimir Radinovic led OSUwith five offensive caroms. The Buckeyes finished the game a with adecided 28-14 advantage in points in the paint as the Ohio Statefrontcourt outscored the IU frontcourt 37-18. Radinovic and OhioState’s leading scorer – Terence Dials – accounted for 35 of the 37frontcourt points for OSU.
Dials scored a career-best 19 points, while Radinovic added 16.
Ohio State posted a 34-31 edge in rebounds Tuesday night,dropping the Buckeyes to 8-5 when out-rebounding its opponent.
Four separate Buckeyes collected at least five rebounds on the night as Radinovic led the squad with eight, while sophomore J.J. Sullinger added seven. Junior guard Tony Stockman tied a season-best with five rebounds, as did freshman guard Nick Dials.
The Buckeyes went on a 10-4 run from the 15:52 mark to the11:47 point of the second half to claim OSU’s first lead since the16:48 mark of the first half, when the Buckeyes held a 5-2 edge.The lead changed hands just once in the first half and was tiedjust once in the first half. In the second half, the two teamsswapped the lead five times, while the game was knotted in a tieseven times. Ohio State trailed 26-22 at halftime. With the lossTuesday night, Ohio State fell to 1-6 on the season when trailingat intermission. With the loss Tuesday night, Ohio State’s recordon Jan. 20 now is 15-8 all-time. Ohio State sophomore forward Terence Dials scored nine of OhioState’s first 13 points over the first 13:32 of the game en routeto a career-high 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field.Dials previous career-high in points scored came against Davidsonin the first round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament (March 14, 2002).Dials and fellow Buckeye big man Velimir Radinovic accounted for 35of Ohio State’s 61 points Tuesday night.
Radinovic scored 16 points for the third time this season and grabbed at least eight rebounds for the sixth time this season and collected at least five offensive rebounds in a game for the third time this season.
