Curtis Smith led the men’s lacrosse team to a 17-5 victory over Quinnipiac Saturday. The senior had a career-best seven goals and nine points to move into 17th place all-time in OSU history with 114 career points.
Women’s gymnast Tiffanie Janke was victorious in each of her three events, including tying a school and Big Ten record with a perfect score of 10.000 on the vault, to lead the Buckeyes to first place in the All-Ohio Championships. The Ohio State junior also claimed the top spot on the floor exercise (a career-best 9.90) and balance beam (9.875). She earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week accolades for her performance.
Women’s ice hockey player Jeni Creary claimed her first WCHA All-Tournament Team accolades Saturday following the 2003 WCHA Women’s Final Five championship game in Grand Forks, N.D. Creary scored three goals in the Buckeyes’ three games at the playoffs. She recorded the game-winning goal in the final seconds of overtime to lead No. 4-seed Ohio State to a 3-3 overtime victory over No. 5 Bemidji State Thursday. Creary also notched an additional goal against Bemidji State and the Buckeyes’ lone goal against No. 3 Wisconsin Saturday.
