Athletes of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

Against Nebraska over the weekend, sophomore men’s gymnast Kerry Adderly (Orlando, Fla.) set career highs on all of his events and placed first in four: floor with a 9.45, vault with a 9.5, parallel bars with a 9.05 and high bar with a 9.45. His 9.15 on rings was a career high and a good for a fourth-place finish.
Krista Keir (Sr., Westerville, Ohio) placed first in the shot put with a throw of 55-3.00 in the Sykes Sabock Challenge Cup at Penn State, which earned an automatic entry to the 2003 NCAA championships. Keir also established an Ohio State indoor record in the event for the second straight week.
Women’s ice hockey player Jaclyn Haines was named WCHA defensive player of the week. Haines led the Buckeye defense in a two game sweep over Minnesota State (2-1 OT, 5-4) last weekend. Friday, she finished with a +1 rating and was on the ice during the Buckeyes’ overtime game-winning goal. Saturday, Haines led all players with three assists, went +3 and received No. 2 star of the game honors. Haines also was on the ice during OSU’s game-winning goal Saturday. Haines has played in 28 games, recording five assists and a +4 rating this season.
