Men’s hockey freshman forward Dan Knapp was named the CCHA Rookie of the Week after helping lead the Buckeyes to a 1-0-1 record on the road at Alaska Fairbanks in their first CCHA series of the year. Knapp led the Buckeyes with three goals in their two games against the Nanooks. Knapp scored twice, including the gamewinner, in the Buckeyes’ 6-3 win in the series opener and in the finale, he tallied OSU’s lone goal in a 1-all tie.
Sophomore goaltender Emily Haynam earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts in shutout wins over both Wisconsin and Minnesota on Oct. 18 and Oct. 20, respectively. Haynam, who was inserted into the OSU starting lineup in the Buckeyes 2-1 win over Illinois on Oct. 13, has fueled Ohio State’s current three-game win streak allowing just one goal in the three contests since taking over the OSU net. Haynam also doubles as a forward on the women’s basketball team.
