O’Brien Suspends Williams, Big Ten Issues Reprimand – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio and PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Ohio State University and head men’s basketball coach Jim O’Brien have suspended junior forward Zach Williams for the duration of the 2003 National Invitation Tournament. Williams has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team displayed during Ohio State’s game against Illinois Sunday in the final of the 2003 Big Ten Tournament in Chicago.
In addition, after a review of videotape from Ohio State’s tournament quarterfinals game with Wisconsin last Friday, the Big Ten Conference has found Williams in violation of the Conference’s sportslike conduct agreements for striking an opposing player. The Big Ten Conference reprimands Williams for his conduct and concurs with the suspension of Williams.
The Ohio State University and the Big Ten Conference consider this matter concluded and will have no further comment.
