Men’s Basketball to Open NIT at Georgia Tech – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State men’s basketball team (17-14) will open the first round of the 2003 National Invitation Tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Georgia Tech.
The game will be televised by ESPN2.
Jim O’Brien, Ohio State head coach, looks forward to continuing the 2002-03 season.
“We appreciate the NIT giving us an invitation,” O’Brien said. “We are excited about the opportunity to extend our season and play more games.”
Ohio State played Sunday in the championship game of the Big Ten tournament, falling to Illinois, 72-59.
Ohio State has played in six NIT events (1979, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1993). The Buckeyes are 13-6 all-time in the tournament with a championship in 1986 and a runner up finish in 1988.
