Columbus, Ohio – Lindsay Eckles, a Hilliard, Ohio native and a senior forward on the Ohio State women’s soccer team, set the school record for career shot attempts in a 2-1 victory over Northwestern Sunday afternoon in Evanston, Ill.
Eckles, who registered three shots during the match, set the mark with her initial shot of the first period. She entered the match tied with former Buckeye great Lisa Sutmiller (1994-97) with 204 career strikes and has now staked claim to the top spot with a career ledger of 207.
Eckles, who missed parts of the 2002 season with a knee injury, received great praise from OSU head coach Lori Walker.
“We are very pleased for Lindsay,” Walker stated. “She has been such a dominant player throughout her four-year career and I’m happy for her that she was able to comeback and accomplish such a feat after suffering through last season’s injury.”
