COLUMBUS, Ohio–Jim O’Brien, head men’s basketball coach at Ohio State, promoted Paul Biancardi to associate head coach today. Biancardi has served on O’Brien’s staff for the last 13 years, including the last five at Ohio State.
O’Brien also announced the hiring of Monte Mathis as an assistant coach, filling the position vacated by Bruce Parkhill earlier this month. Mathis served as an Ohio State assistant during the 2001-02 season.
Mathis began as the program’s video coordinator in 2000-01 and moved back to that position earlier this summer when former Eastern Michigan assistant LaMonta Stone was hired as an assistant at Ohio State.
Andy Murphy, who has been a volunteer assistant helping with team video, will assume the video coordinator position full time.
