Fencers Continue Success At Dual Meets – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$Columbus, Ohio- The Ohio State men’s and women’s fencing teams continued to shine today at the OSU Dual meets in Larkins Hall. Both the men and women squads went 4-1 on the day, losing only to No. 2 Notre Dame.%^$
%^$The No. 6 women were victorious against Wayne State (20-7), Case Western (24-3), Cleveland State (24-3) and No. 6 Northwestern (15-12). The men were triumphant over the same teams: Wayne State (22-5), Case Western (24-3), Cleveland State (23-4) and Northwestern (20-7).%^$
%^$The women dominated Wayne State, winning sabre, 5-4, foil, 6-2 and epee, 8-1. Against Case Western they swept all three again, winning sabre and epee, 9-0 and foil, 6-3. They next defeated Cleveland State, winning 9-0 in sabre and epee and 6-3 in foil. Against Northwestern the Buckeyes scored victories in sabre, 7-2 and fell in foil and epee, 5-4. The Buckeyes only recorded two wins against Notre Dame, winning sabre and epee 5-4, and falling in foil 7-2.%^$
%^$The No. 8 men were in control against Wayne State, winning sabre and foil, 8-1, and epee, 6-3. Against Case Western the sabre team won 9-0, in foil, 7-2 and epee, 8-1. Its third victory came against Cleveland State, winning sabre and epee, 9-0, and foil, 5-4. Against Northwestern the Buckeyes won in sabre (8-1), epee (5-4), and again in foil, 7-2. The men came close to knocking off Notre Dame, winning epee, 5-4 and losing close battles in sabre, 5-4 and foil, 7-2.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes are back in action tomorrow when they play host to the OSU Open in Larkins Hall at 9 a.m.
