Buckeye Women Break 4×200 Meter Relay School Record – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The men and women’s track and field teams completed action at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee with a school record, 1 NCAA automatic qualifying mark, 3 provisional qualifying marks and several season best records.
The women’s 4×200-meter relay team of Onica Fraser (So., Brooklyn, N.Y.), Dalanda Jackson (Fr., Shaker Heights, Ohio), Tina Johnson (Sr., Burlington, N.J.) and Donica Merriman (Sr., Trotwood, Ohio) sped to a second-place finish and erased the previous 18-year-old school record of 1 minute, 39.64 seconds with a time of 1:36.16. The same team kicked it up a notch in the 4×100 relay cruising to a fifth-place, season-best time of 45.78. In addition, the sprint medley relay team of Nicholette Chambers (So., New Haven, Conn.), Brandi Hogan (Fr., Pittsburgh, Pa.), Rhonda Lynn Crawford (Jr., Collinwood, Ohio), and Brooke Patterson (Fr., Lancaster, Ohio), in their first event this season, earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:05.87.
The men’s 4×400 relay team of Courtney Cornwall (Sr., Inwood, N.Y.), Edison Francis (Sr., St. James, Trinidad), Thomas Dickson (Sr., St. Vincent, West Indies) and Andrew Pierce (Sr., Yellow Springs, Ohio) notched a provisional time of 3:06.54 and a fourth-place finish.
The Buckeye throwers got in to the action as well. Andrew Saurer (Jr., Smithville, Ohio) and Justin Cavinee (Jr., West Jefferson, Ohio) both posted personal bests to place third and fourth, respectively, in the hammer throw. Sauer’s mark was 57.80 meters and Cavinee’s effort awarded him a distance of 57.64.
117 teams competed in the Sea Ray Relays. Ohio State travels to Walnut, California Friday to compete in the 43rd Mt. SAC relays held at Hilmer Lodge Memorial Stadium.
