%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State men’s hockey forward Paul Pooley has been named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association 1980s All-Decade Second Team, the league announced. Current Buckeye head coach John Markell, a standout at Bowling Green, is a first-team honoree for the 1970s squad.%^$
%^$The all-decade teams were selected by a committee of coaches, administrators and media that have been involved with the league for the majority of the last three decades. After starting with a pool of Hobey Baker Award winners, All-America honorees, all-conference athletes and write-ins that played at least three years of college hockey, the all-decade teams were selected. Players then were split into each decade based on which decade they spent the most time in. If a player split time between decades he was inserted into the decade in which he graduated.%^$
%^$Paul Pooley, who played for the Buckeyes from 1981-84, is Ohio State’s all-time scoring leader (269). He also ranks first in career goals (114) and assists (155). He holds the Buckeyes’ single-season marks for season points (96), season assists (64) and season power-play goals (23).%^$

%^$In addition, Pooley earned first team Academic All-America honors in 1984. As a freshman in 1981, he earned the CCHA Rookie of the Year award and was a second-team All-CCHA honoree.%^$
%^$Markell, the 1978 CCHA Player of the Year, had an impressive career for the Falcons from 1975-79. He is one of only five players in league history to earn first-team all-conference honors three times. During his career, he posted 235 points, on 102 goals and 133 assists. The Cornwall, Ontario, native’s career point total ranks sixth on the Falcons’ career scoring ladder, while his goals rank seventh (tied).
