Men’s Basketball Player Recognized – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-District Teams, recognizing the country’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes.
Ohio State senior center Ken Johnson (6-11, Detroit, Mich./Henry Ford) is a first-team selection in District 10. He is joined on the District 10 First Team by Troy Murphy (Notre Dame), David West (Xavier), Kirk Haston (Indiana) and Tony Stanley (Dayton).
Johnson became the Big Ten career blocked-shot record holder with six rejections at Northwestern (2/24/01). His career total of 434 ranks No. 5 in NCAA history. He is averaging 12.2 points and 6.9 rebounds a game this season. He recently eclipsed 1,000 career points at Ohio State, the 39th Buckeye to reach 1,000 career points.
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across the country. The 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the NABC/Chevrolet Division I All-America Team to be announced at the conclusion of the 2000-01 NCAA men’s basketball season.
