Finalists Announced For Jesse Owens Sportsmanship Awards – Ohio State Buckeyes

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Jesse Owens Foundation has announced the finalists for the Jesse Owens Awards for Sportsmanship that will be presented May 5 in New Albany, Ohio.
Olympic Track Gold Medalist Marion Jones, Tennis Star Monica Seles and former Olympic gymnast Kerry Strug are finalists in the women’s division.
The men’s finalists are Olympic heavyweight wrestling champion Rulon Gardner, PGA member Tom Lehman, perennial NBA All-Star David Robinson and recently-retired NFL running back Robert Smith.
The honoree in each category will be announced in mid-April. ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap will host the awards banquet that will be held at the Wexner Party Barn. A national body of College Athletics Directors and national media selected the winners.
The award is presented by the Jesse Owens Foundation and is presented yearly to a male and female athlete who exemplifies good sportsmanship over time or in a single recognizable special act and who has led by their positive example. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the youth services programs of The Jesse Owens Foundation.
