Ken Johnson scored a career high of 28 points while alsorecording career bests from the free throw line, where he connectedon 14-of-15 attempts, including a 13-of-14 effort in the secondhalf. The 28 points were the most scored by a Buckeye this seasonand the most since Michael Redd tallied 28 at Indiana in an 82-71win over the Hoosiers (2/19/00). Ohio State extended its streak ofconsecutive games with at least one 3-point goal made when BrianBrown hit a 3-pointer with 8:18 remaining in the first half. OSUhas connected on at least one 3-point goal in 272-consecutivegames. Ken Johnson started his 114th career game to tie HerbWilliams (114, 1978-81) on the all-time OSU career starts chart atthe No. 4 spot. Johnson is one of eight players in Ohio Statehistory to start 100 or more games in his Buckeye career. He willcatch Perry Carter (116) with a couple more starting nods. Johnsonblocked six shots, giving him 414 for his career – 14 behind formerPenn State star Calvin Booth, who rejected 428 from 1995-99.Johnson is just the second player in Big Ten Conference history toblock 400 or more shots in a career. With 95 blocked shots thisseason, Johnson stands fourth on the OSU single-season chart – onebehind No. 3 Brad Sellers’ 97 rejections in 1986. Johnson holds thetop two spots on the list with 161 last season and 100 in 1998-99.Ohio State hit 82 percent (23-of-28) of its free throws, markingthe seventh-consecutive game the Buckeyes have hit 70 percent orhigher from the charity stripe. Sean Connolly hit both of hisfree-throw attempts, extending his streak of consecutive freethrows made to 20. He has not missed a shot from the line since(12/13/00). Brian Brown continued to be an iron man, playing 38minutes in the contest. Brown is averaging nearly 36 minutes pergame in Big Ten play. The win gave Ohio State its fifth consecutivevictory over Minnesota and completed a regular season sweep overthe Golden Gophers. Ohio State won its first road game of theseason and its first on the road in the Big Ten. The last leaguevictory on an opponent’s court was at Minnesota March 4, 2000 whenthe Buckeyes clinched a share of the 2000 Big Ten Championship withan 82-72 win.
