%^$Omaha, Neb. – The Buckeyes scored three goals in the third period to come back and defeat Nebraska-Omaha, 4-3, tonight in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Yan Des Gange scored the game-winner for the Buckeyes with 2:47 left in the third period.%^$
%^$With the victory, the Buckeyes improve to 16-11-2 overall, 13-8-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. UNO falls to 17-13-3 overall, 12-10-3 in league action.%^$In the first period, the Buckeyes outshot UNO, 16-6, but went into the lockerroom tied at one. The Mavericks got on the board first, as David Brisson tallied 11:51 into the game. R.J. Umberger countered at the 15:11 mark, taking a Doug Andress pass and putting the puck past UNO’s Dan Ellis after getting past a Maverick defender.%^$
%^$ The Mavericks tallied the only goal of the second period just 1:11 into the second stanza. Aaron Smith scored from in close just after OSU had killed off a Maverick powerplay. The Buckeyes outshot UNO, 7-6, in the period.%^$
%^$ Jean-Francois Dufour tied the game at two 4:33 into the third period, ending a give-and-go with Umberger. The Buckeyes took a one-goal lead, 3-2, when Dave Steckel tallied his team-leading 16th goal of the season with the Buckeyes on a 5-on-3 power play at the 7:42 mark. Dufour and Andress added assists on the play. The Mavericks tied the game with a power-play goal of their own at the 12:08 mark, scored by David Brisson.%^$
%^$ The Buckeyes’ fourth-line then tallied the game-winner at the 17:13 mark. Chris Olsgard won the faceoff deep in the Mavericks’ zone and the puck went in front of the UNO net. Des Gagne was able to tip the puck in the goal for the eventual game-winner. Ohio State held the Mavericks to three shots on goal in the period.%^$
%^$ Buckeye goalie Mike Betz stopped 12-of-15 shots, while Ellis made 26 saves on 30 Ohio State shots. Both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.%^$
