COLUMBUS, Ohio – USRowing named Ohio State assistant coach Robbie Tenenbaum the U.S. junior national team women’s head coach, the organization announced Tuesday.
Winning medals will be a top priority for Tenenbaum in his new role.
“It is something I have wanted to do for a long time,” Tenenbaum said. “I think I can make a difference and hopefully win a few medals for the United States. It was fun being the assistant the last six years but I am looking forward to the chance to run the show myself. It’s exciting.”
Tenenbaum will continue to coach the Buckeyes while serving as the U.S. junior national head coach during the summer months. He begins coaching the U.S. squad June 8th in preparation for the junior world championships Aug. 7-10 in Lithuania.
Tenenbaum is a junior national team-coaching veteran. The University of Tampa graduate has served as a junior national team assistant coach since 1994, helping coach the junior women’s eight to a silver medal in 1999 and a bronze medal in 1997 and the junior women’s four to a gold medal in 2000 and a silver medal in 2001.
Tenenbaum also has served as the team manager from several junior national teams. Prior to joining the Buckeyes’ staff, Tenenbaum served as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee and as the head coach at the University of Tulsa, Florida Tech University and Clemson University.
