Fencers Compete At Remenyik Open – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio– Selected members of the Ohio State fencing team competed at the Remenyik Open at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., Saturday and Sunday with five different members placing in the top five. The event was an individual competition and not a team-scoring event.
In women’s epee, Alexandra Shklar (So., Jerusalem, Israel/Hatihon Hamasorati) finished in second place and Gaelyn Park (Fr., Louisville, Ky./J. Graham Brown) came home in fifth. The Buckeyes were well represented in women’s foil with Metta Thompson (Fr., Rochester, N.Y./East) and Hanna Thompson (Fr., Rochester, N.Y./East) taking first and third place respectively.
Also placing for the Buckeyes on the women’s side were Leah Tracy (Sr., Winnetka, Ill. ) and Molly Krebs(So., Castle Shannon, Pa./Bethel Park), who placed tenth and eleventh in sabre.
On the men’s side, sophomore sensation Colin Parker (So., Fayetteville, Ga./Heritage School) placed first in sabre, while Joshua Isaacs (Fr., Troy, Mich./Athens) and Kitzelin Siebert (So., Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence Free State) also placed in the top ten, finishing seventh and eighth. Nathan Wier (Jr., Kennewick, Wash./Kennewick) finished 11th in foil to round out the top finishers for the Buckeyes.
