COLUMBUS, Ohio – Joe Crispin scored 20 points and Titus Ivory added 18%^$as Penn State beat Ohio State 78-75 Wednesday.%^$
Crispin, who leads the Big Ten in scoring, shot 7-of-18 from the field with%^$four 3-pointers. He has scored at least 20 points in each of his last seven%^$games.%^$
Ivory made 5-of-9 3-point shots and Penn State made 13-of-26 3-point%^$attempts as a team. The Nittany Lions had five players make a 3-point shot and%^$leads the Big Ten averaging over eight 3-point shots made a game.%^$
Ohio State pulled to within 76-75 off a layup by Brian Brown with six%^$seconds left. After being fouled Tyler Smith made two free throws to put Penn%^$State up 78-75. Gyasi Cline-Heard blocked Brown’s 3-point shot that would have%^$tied the game at the buzzer.%^$
Penn State was forced to shoot from the perimeter after Ken Johnson set the%^$tone inside forcing Penn State players to alter their shots. Johnson had 14%^$points in the first half by powering his way inside for short jump shots or%^$settling for hook shots when defenders managed to stay in front of him.%^$
Johnson finished with 24 points and ten rebounds. His two-handed dunk put%^$the Buckeyes up 25-16 with ten minutes left in the first half.%^$
Johnson led the nation last year in blocked shots but had only one block in%^$the game.%^$
Brown, who leads the Buckeyes averaging 14 points a game, had 15 points and%^$Zach Williams had 12 for the Buckeyes (10-5, 1-2 in the Big Ten).%^$
Penn State had four players in double-figures. Cline-Heard finished with 13%^$points. Jon Crispin made both of his 3-point shots including one that tied the%^$game at 32 with four minutes left in the first half.%^$
After holding Joe Crispin to just 1-of-5 3-point attempts in the first half,%^$but he got hot in the second half hitting back-to-back 3-pointers to put the%^$Nittany Lions up 49-46 with 16 minutes left.%^$
Ohio State leads the league in tough defense holding opponents to shooting%^$just 37.6 percent but Penn State shot 52.9 percent from the field.%^$
Ohio State has lost just five home games in the three-year history of Value%^$City Arena and in those five losses no team has won by more than three points.
