Women’s Soccer Loses 1-0 To Purdue In Physical Match – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s soccer team lost to visiting%^$Purdue Friday, 1-0, in OSU’s home conference opener at Jesse Owens%^$Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes now are 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the Big%^$Ten while Purdue improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.%^$
%^$Boilermaker junior Tari St. John scored the gamewinning goal in the 33rd%^$minute off a pass from freshman teammate Katie Davis.%^$
%^$OSU and PU battled for control of the match as each team tried to push%^$the other off the ball. The Buckeyes and Boilermakers committed a total%^$of 32 fouls in the match. OSU had 14 while PU was charged with 18, two%^$for yellow cards.%^$
%^$”This was a typical Big Ten match,” Lori Walker, head coach for OSU,%^$said. “We played with a lot of heart but Purdue is a good team and they%^$capitalized on the opportunities they had.”%^$
%^$Goalkeeper Amber Barnes (Sr., Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) registered%^$six saves. The Buckeyes had several scoring chances but PU keeper Liz%^$Boldt made six saves for the shutout. This was the second straight match%^$that the Buckeyes have been shut out.%^$
%^$OSU will return to action at 2 p.m. Sunday when it plays host to the%^$Indiana Hoosiers.%^$
