Women’s Soccer Loses Conference Opener, 2-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s soccer team lost to the Michigan State Spartans, 2-0, at East Lansing, Mich. Sunday. The Buckeyes slip to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten while MSU remains undefeated with a record of 6-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten.
OSU committed 17 fouls in the match with one foul resulting in a penalty kick. MSU’s Andrea Sied scored on the free kick at 35:38 and the Spartans took a 1-0 lead.
The Spartans’ Kim Van Cleef added the second goal at 70:28 with an assist from Heidi Lutz to secure the victory for MSU.
Buckeye goalkeeper Amber Barnes (Sr., Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) recorded eight saves.
OSU will return to action at 5 p.m. Friday when the Buckeyes play host to the Purdue Boilermakers at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. OSU also will play host to the Indiana Hoosiers at 2 p.m. Sunday.
