Moraes Twins Dominate Collegiate National Semifinals – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio— OSU twins, Isabela and Carolina Moraes (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil) are leading in two out of three events after the semifinals of the Collegiate National Championships today. The Moraes twins took first place in the duet competition with the semifinal score of 95.733 outscoring the defending duet champions, Stanford’s Julie Enos and Shannon Montague (92.600).
“Carolina and Isabela are right on track to peak at this meet, and carry some momentum into the Olympics,” Head Coach Linda Lichter-Witter said. “We performed well across the board today. The collegiate championships is always a close meet and this year will be no different.”
Carolina and Isabela Moraes teamed up with Mary Hofer to nab first place in the trio semifinal event as well posting 94.600 to beat Stanford’s Ashley Ensign, Lindsey Wiggington, and Kristi Wright (92.467).
The top eight places in the solo, duet, and trio semifinals will continue to compete for the national title in the final round on Saturday. Tomorrow the figure competition will take place beginning at 9a.m.-4:30p.m. The team semifinals will be at 5:30p.m.-7:45p.m. Ohio State has entered two routines in the team event for tomorrow.
