Ohio State Fencers Dominate Buckeye Duals – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio- – The Ohio State fencing team hosted the Ohio State Duals Feb. 26 at Larkins Hall. The women’s squad finished undefeated, beating all seven teams it faced. The men’s squad finished the day 6-1, losing to Wayne State. The Buckeyes hosted Cleveland State, Michigan, Michigan State, Wayne State, Purdue, Detroit Mercy, Chicago and Northwestern’s men’s squad. Ohio State did not fence Northwestern. Leading the way for the women’s team were Sara Bowen, Fane Groes and Jaime Rice. Bowen finished 15-1 in sabre, Groes, 14-1 in foil, and Rice, 17-3, in epee. The men’s team was lead by Ian Cliffe, Greg Carlino and Scott Francis. Cliffe was 10-1 in sabre, Carlino finished 16-5 in foil and Francis was 16-4 in the epee bouts. The Ohio State fencing team’s next meet is March 4-5 at the Midwest Championships at Notre Dame.
