Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien
“It wasn’t pretty, but we have to be happy that we won. This was a typical battle of two good Big Ten teams. Both teams played tremendous defense. Both teams deserve credit. We just had a little more in the end.
“When we were down, we told our guys to stay together and keep plugging away and eventually things would turn around.”
Ken Johnson
“We never worried. We stayed focused and sank our shots in the end. We are definitely happy to win. We have to continue to pull together like we did tonight for the remainder of the season.”
Michael Redd
(On his first half injury) “I came down hard on my knee in the first half. It continued to nag me a little. The brace definitely helped.
“We can’t continue to play like this. We have to play like we played against Michigan State ever game.
“We wanted to make this a game of our pace. They did a good job slowing us down.
“We are not playing like a top-five team. We play a tough Michigan team Sunday and we have to go out there and play like Ohio State can.”
Scoonie Penn
“Their style of play makes them a tough team. This is definitely not a team you want to play more than twice. We have to be happy to be shooting this poorly and coming away with wins.”
Wisconsin head coach Dick Bennett
“We pretty much got the looks we wanted in the second half. That was the way it was all night, but we couldn’t put anything away. That’s been the story of our season. When the ball looks like it’s halfway down, it rattles out.
“They (Ohio State) are a quick team. And you’re going to make some turnovers, but you hope it’s not in costly situations.
“Andy (Kowske) matches up against anybody because he’s strong and quick. He can hold his own.
“We did what we had to do and came up short. We’ve done this before.”
