Men’s Gymnasts Advance to All-Around Finals at Winter Cup Challenge – Ohio State Buckeyes

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Ohio State men’s gymnasts Raj Bhavsar (Fr., Houston, Texas) and Jamie Natalie (Jr., Hockessin, Del.) have advanced to the all-around finals at the 2000 Winter Cup Challenge held at the Pepsi All-Sport Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
Bhavsar and Natalie were in the top 36 after Friday’s two preliminary rounds, earning the right to advance to the final. Bhavsar ended the first day in 15th place, while Natalie was 20th. Buckeye alumnus and current U.S. National Team member Doug Stibel also advanced to the final after finishing the preliminaries in 27th place. Stibel helped his own cause by tying for third place on the high bar in the individual event finals.
Current Buckeyes Michael Evans (Fr., Houston, Texas), Dick Huntwork (Fr., Pickerington, Ohio) and Jay Nardelli (Jr., Centreville, Va.) also competed in the Winter Cup Challenge but did not advance to the final round.
The all-around finals will be held today (Feb. 12) beginning at 11 p.m. (EST) in Las Vegas. The top three gymnasts placing in the top 10 that are not current members of the U.S. Senior National Team will be added to that squad’s roster.
