COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brent Darby scored seven of his 15 points in a 27-2%^$first-half run as Ohio State stretched its winning streak to six in a row by%^$beating Robert Morris 88-46 on Wednesday night.%^$
Ohio State (8-2) improved its home record to 7-0 this season and 36-3 since%^$Value City Arena opened three years ago. The game was the Buckeyes’ sixth in a%^$nine-game homestand, the longest since the 1910 team played its first 10 games%^$at home.%^$
It was the fourth time in the last six games that Ohio State held an%^$opponent under 52 points.%^$
The Buckeyes host No. 9 Kansas on Saturday.%^$
Zach Williams scored 19 points to lead the Buckeyes. Cobe Ocokoljic had 11%^$points and Will Dudley 10. Ken Johnson set the tone early, blocking the%^$Colonials’ first two shots. Johnson, who led the nation in blocks a year ago,%^$finished with seven.%^$
No one from Robert Morris (1-10) hit double figures. Tyler Bacon hit three%^$3-pointers for nine points.%^$
Robert Morris was still in the game, trailing 19-13 on Eric Casey-Ford’s%^$shot inside with 7:32 left in the half.%^$
But then Ohio State scored 27 of the next 29 points, pounding the ball%^$inside for layups and – when that wasn’t an option – hitting shots behind the%^$arc.%^$
The Buckeyes hit four consecutive 3-pointers during the spurt and made all%^$nine of their shots from the field overall before Brian Brown’s shot at the%^$halftime buzzer spun out.%^$
Boban Savovic scored eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Brown%^$had seven in the surge.%^$
Over that same 7-minute period, the Colonials were 1-for-7 from the field%^$with five turnovers.%^$
The lead never dropped below 32 points in the second half.%^$
Darby hit 5-of-7 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 3-pointers. The%^$Buckeyes ended up hitting half of their 14 shots behind the arc.%^$
The game was a homecoming of sorts for former Ohio University head coach%^$Danny Nee. Nee is in his first season at Robert Morris after spending 14%^$seasons at Nebraska and the six before that at Ohio.%^$
In addition, the Colonials had five native Ohioans on their roster.
