Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien Quotes
I told our guys before the game that Eastern Kentucky had shooting difficulty. It was hard for us not to get in their heads. But, I also told them that it was necessary to shoot the ball with confidence. Our team knew that Eastern Kentucky would most likely play zone. We felt they had the same look as Valpo did against us.
I think I know why we played so well against Florida State. We were fresh going into that game and we shot the ball real well. Then against Syracuse, they have one of the best zone defenses in the country. They play zone very well and we struggled against them. That is no alibi for losing two games. It is just a fact that playing three games in three games is very draining. The bottom line is I said going in to today’s game that we needed to step up and make shots. Today we were fresher and we made the shots.
On Freshman Zach Williams
Zach is doing very well. He is a bright basketball player. One thing he needs to work on is that he needs to relax and slow down.
On Ken Johnson
I am not concerned with Ken Johnson and his numbers. I like the fact he is aware that his numbers are down. It is no secret he needs to be more involved. I feel he handled himself well today.
Eastern Kentucky head coach Travis Ford
When you’re overmatched it is tough to get into anything offensively. I didn’t think we competed at all. There was a seven minute stretch in the second half that we did but that’s it. We have to do something to grab the basketball. We’ve got to go back to the drawing board and get ready for Kentucky.
We’ll have our hands full Tuesday night at Kentucky
We faced a team in Ohio State that was much better than us and they made us play bad. I was really impressed with Ohio State. They have it all.
