Brown Earns Co-Big Ten Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ohio State junior guard Brian Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) was selected the co-Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after he led a group of five OSU players who averaged double figures last week in wins over St. John’s and Morehead State at Value City Arena. It is Brown’s first Big Ten Player of the Week award as a member of the Buckeyes.
Brown paced Ohio State (7-2) with a 14.0 scoring average, which included game-high scoring honors (18 pts.) in the 71-58 home win over St. John’s. Brown connected on 65 percent of his shots from the field (11-17) last week while averaging 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He also knocked down 2-of-5 attempts from 3-point range while playing a team-high 36.5 minutes per game.
As a team, the Buckeyes hit 56 percent from the field (59-105 last week and 53 percent from 3-point range (16-30). Ohio State outrebounded St. John’s and Morehead State by an average of 13.3 rebounds a game while outscoring the Red Storm and Eagles by an average of 22.0 points. Brown has scored in double figures in 8-of-9 games this season. He has scored in double figures in 23 career games-OSU is 18-5 in those contests.
Brown shared honors with senior Roy Boone of Wisconsin. Brown is the first Buckeye to earn Big Ten Player of the Week this season and the first since George Reese was so honored March 6, 2000.
