Recap| Box Score| Notes
Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien
“It was a good win for us to say the least. We’re trying to get respect this year and take notice of the team. It was an opportunity to beat a good team in a nationally televised game.
(On Brian Brown) “Brian made a big three-point play and had a huge jumper on the left wing which gave us five critical points. We had made some mental mistakes, but we also made some nice plays when we needed to.
(On OSU’s depth) “It’s a problem depth-wise. We were down in numbers on the perimeter. We would like to get more of a contribution from the bench.
(On beating St. John’s for the third time in a row) “It’s hard to imagine beating them again. Mike (Jarvis) does a great job with the team. It was a game that was different from the last two because it was a different cast of characters.”
St. John’s head coach Mike Jarvis
“They shot well. They made some big shots. They did what they were supposed to do. We can’t get behind by that big of a margin and expect to come back on the road.
(On Ken Johnson) “Ken has unbelievable talent. He’s a great defensive player. He is improving as an offensive player.
(On OSU as a team) “They are a tough team. I think they’re an excellent basketball team that plays excellent team defense. They put you in a position to beat yourself.”
St. John’s Reggie Jessie
(On the Buckeye shooting performance) “We had to defend better. We needed to play them better by going harder. They went harder than us.
(On Johnson) “He did a good job. He made some good shots early. He had a great game against us.”
St. John’s Anthony Glover
(On OSU’s game) “They came out and played with a lot of intensity and heart. They hurt us when Ken Johnson had the ball low and kicked it out and hit their threes.
(On halftime adjustments) “We were trying to come out with more intensity and crash the boards more.
(On revenge factor) “We weren’t looking for revenge. We knew it would be a tough game, coming into their gym and winning. We gave it all we had, but Ohio State came out with more intensity. They just beat us.”
