Freshman Matt Marinchick to Redshirt 2000-01 Season – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Jim O’Brien, Ohio State head men’s basketball coach, announced today Buckeye freshman Matt Marinchick will redshirt the 2000-01 season and will retain four years of eligibility with the Buckeyes beginning with the 2001-02 season.
Marinchick, a 6-foot-10-inch, 240-pound center from Hudson, Ohio, will use the 2000-01 season to build strength and physically mature, O’Brien said.
“We decided to redshirt Matt because we feel it is in his best interests,” O’Brien said. “He and his parents are in total agreement with this decision.”
Marinchick will not participate in any games, including the exhibition schedule, during the 2000-01 season.
