Freshman Matt Marinchick to Redshirt 2000-01 Season – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio–Jim O’Brien, Ohio State head men’s basketball coach, announced today Buckeye freshman Matt Marinchick will redshirt the 2000-01 season and will retain four years of eligibility with the Buckeyes beginning with the 2001-02 season.%^$
%^$Marinchick, a 6-foot-10-inch, 240-pound center from Hudson, Ohio, will use the 2000-01 season to build strength and physically mature, O’Brien said.%^$
%^$”We decided to redshirt Matt because we feel it is in his best interests,” O’Brien said. “He and his parents are in total agreement with this decision.”%^$
%^$Marinchick will not participate in any games, including the exhibition schedule, during the 2000-01 season.
