Synchronized Swimming Wins Tri-Meet To The Open Season – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS,Ohio— The Ohio State Synchronized Swimming team won first place in its season opener Saturday, hosting Miami (O.) and Alabama-Birmingham in the OSU Tri-Meet. The final score of the meet was Ohio State 102, Miami (O.) 54.5, and Alabama-Birmingham 46. Ohio State held a solid lead throughout the meet, dominating both first and second place in the solo, duet, and trio events. Carolina and Isabela Moraes (So., Sao Paulo, Brazil) received a score of 93.333 to win first in the duet event, and with the addition of Mary Hofer (So., Spring Valley, California), received a score of 92.867 to take first in the trio event as well. Victoria Bowen (Fr., Plano, Tx.) captured first in the solo event with a score of 91.400. The Buckeyes also took the first 17 places in the “A” Figures.
Ohio State Synchronized Swimming will compete again on Feb. 5, 2000 at Alabama-Birmingham.
