Fencers Take 10th at NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing team took 10th place at the NCAA Fencing Championships, held at Brandeis University this weekend. The Buckeyes accumulated 40 total points in the competition.
Yelena Kalkina (Jr., Almaty, Kazakhstan) led the Buckeyes with a third-place finish in the women’s foil, which enabled her to garner All-America honors. Fane Groes (So., Copenhagen, Denmark) took 12th in the women’s foil and earned honorable mention All-America honors.
Toya Holland (Fr., Columbus, Ohio) took 16th place in the women’s epee for Ohio State, while senior Jeff Carlino (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) nabbed 21st place in the men’s epee to finish his OSU career on a high note.
Penn State won the overall team title, marking the fifth consecutive year the Nittany Lions have finished as NCAA champions.
