%^$ * Sophomore Michael Redd has scored 1,289 career points after pitching in 27 in the win over Murray State (72-58). Redd passed Clark Kellogg (1980-82) on the OSU all-time scoring list. Redd is 19th all time behind No. 18 Jim Cleamons (1969-71) who completed his career with 1,335.
%^$* Junior Scoonie Penn has 76 3-pointers this season after hitting one vs. Murray State. He needs two to tie Doug Etzler for the single season record of 78 set in 1995.
%^$* Junior Ken Johnson swatted five shots to give him 84 on the season. That total ranks No. 4 on the single season charts at OSU. His career total of 152 also ranks fourth all-time.
%^$* Ohio State continues to build on its team single season record for 3-pointers made (192) and attempted (545). The Buckeyes also are closing on the single season record for steals after recording eight thefts vs. the Racers. OSU has 276 this season, which is second to the 281 set by the 1986-87 team.
%^$* Senior Jason Singleton recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against the racers. It was his fourth of his career and second of the season. His 10 boards tied his career-high as well. He needs just 14 points to reach 1,000 for his career. The double-double was just the third of the season for Ohio State. Michael Redd scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against UAB (12/22/98) in the first round of the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.

%^$* Ohio State is playing in its 19th NCAA Tournament and will be playing its 50th NCAA Tournament game against Detroit. OSU has a record of 32-17 (.653) in NCAA play.
%^$* Ohio State is now 18-1 in its first game in NCAA Tournament play. The only loss came in 1982 when the No. 8 seeded Buckeyes fell to James Madison 55-48 (3/11/82). The Buckeyes are 8-9 in its second game in NCAA Tournament play, including wins in its last two appearances (W 65-61 vs. Georgia Tech 3/17/91, Dayton, Ohio; W 78-55 vs. Connecticut 3/21/92, Cincinnati, Ohio).

The Buckeyes enter the game with Detroit 24-8. The previous OSU record for turnarounds from one season to the next was 14 games from 1958-59 (11-11) to 1959-60 (25-3). Ohio State won the NCAA National Championship in 1960.
