COLUMBUS, Ohio – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has named Ohio State’s Katie Hobson (Jr., Norristown, Pa.) to its 1999 AstroTurf/NFHCA Division I All-America third team.
“This caps off a spectacular year for Katie,” head coach Anne Wilkinson said. “She established herself as one of the best all-around players in the conference and the country. I’m sure this will motivate Katie to work even harder for next season.
Hobson led the Buckeyes with 14 goals and 33 points. She was also named first team all-Big Ten and was a first team West Region All-America selection.
Hobson is just the fourth person in school history to earn All-America honors. Dawn Pederson was a one-time selection (1994), Britta Eickhoff was a two-time selection (1996-97) and Sue Marcellus was a three-time honoree (1977-79).
