%^$ BOSTON (AP) – Marty Reasoner broke a third-period tie and added an insurance%^$goal as Boston College advanced to the championship game of the NCAA hockey%^$tournament on Thursday night with a 5-2 victory over Ohio State.%^$ %^$

%^$ The Eagles (27-8-5) will play for their first title since 1949 on Saturday%^$night against Michigan, which beat New Hampshire 4-0 earlier Thursday. Ohio%^$State (26-13-2) ended a surprising run to the Final Four in its first NCAA%^$tournament ever.

%^$ Boston College moved out to a 2-0 lead before Dan Cousineau scored two goals%^$three minutes apart in the second period to tie it. But Reasoner, the Eagles’%^$captain and the nation’s leading scorer, took a cross-ice, cross-crease pass%^$from Brian Gionta and put Boston College up 3-2 with 13:48 left in the game.%^$ %^$

%^$ Andy Powers made it 4-2 with 2:35 left, taking a defense-threading pass from%^$Gionta at the blue line and going in alone on Ohio State goalie Jeff Maund.%^$Gionta also scored Boston College’s first goal.%^$ %^$

%^$ Scott Clemmensen stopped 18 shots for Boston College and Maund made 37 saves%^$for the Buckeyes.%^$ %^$

%^$ The Eagles (26-8-5) will attempt to be the first team to win an NCAA title%^$in its hometown since Boston University did it at the old Boston Garden in%^$1972. And they’ll do it in front of a crowd like the NCAA record 18,089 that%^$witnessed their semifinal victory.%^$ %^$

%^$ Boston College finished second in Hockey East before winning the postseason%^$tournament to earn a bye in the NCAAs. The Eagles beat Colorado College to make%^$it to the semifinals.%^$ %^$

%^$ Ohio State was on the power play when Gionta got a shorthanded breakaway. He%^$drew Maund out 10 feet in front of the net and went around him to the left%^$before spinning and cautiously hitting the open net to make it 1-0.%^$ %^$

%^$ Jeff Farkas made it 2-0 for Boston College at the 10:24 mark of the second.%^$Cousineau pulled Ohio State within 2-1 at the 15:02 mark of the second period,%^$managing to get his stick on the puck as he was being pulled down.%^$ %^$

%^$ The goal had an immediate effect on the crowd and the Buckeyes players, who%^$began playing with more energy and more muscle. Cousineau took a long pass from%^$Todd Compeau and went in alone on Clemmensen before putting it between his legs%^$to make it 2-2 at the 18:21 mark.%^$ %^$
