Buckeye Hockey Snuffs Yale in NCAA First Round – Ohio State Buckeyes

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Todd Compeau scored twice to lead Ohio State past Yale, 4-0, in the NCAA West Regional first-round game Friday at Yost Arena. Ohio State was making its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance while Yale had not been to the national championship since 1952.
There was no scoring in the first period. Compeau notched his first goal at 6:38 of the second period then scored again at 16:35 of the stanza on a 5-3 power play opportunity. Buckeye goalie Jeff Maund made 22 saves to earn his second playoff shutout and his fourth shutout win of the season. Yale’s Alex Westlund made 25 saves.
The Buckeyes will meet No. 1 West seed Michigan State at 6 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday. No. 2 seed North Dakota will play the winner of Friday’s Princeton vs. Michigan game.
