Ohio State Hockey Tops Miami, 3-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$ COLUMBUS, Ohio —The Ohio State Ice Hockey team improved to 19-11-2 (16-10-1 in the CCHA) last night with a 3-1 win over the Miami RedHawks at the OSU Ice Rink. Miami fell to 18-11-4 (13-11-4 in the CCHA).%^$

%^$ Miami got on the board first when Adam Copeland scored with help from Josh Mizerek and Gregor Krajnc at 12:22 of the first period. The Buckeyes came back to tie the game with just :30 seconds left in the first when Todd Compeau scored his seventh goal of the year, shoveling home a Dan Cousineau centering pass.%^$

%^$ The game remained deadlocked through a tight checking second period and most of the third until Hugo Boisvert scored the game winner on the power play at 18:12. Andre Signoretti rifled a slapshot from the point, and Boisvert picked up the rebound and fired it home for his 18th of the season, sending the sellout crowd of 1, 501 into a frenzy. %^$

%^$Eric Meloche picked up his 21st of the year on an empty net goal seconds later to ice the game for the Buckeyes. %^$

%^$ “We took care of some opportunities, especially on the power play,” Ohio State head coach John Markell said. “It was a good college hockey game, and I’m obviously pleased with the outcome. %^$

%^$ The Buckeyes will travel to Bowling Green on Saturday to take on the Falcons at 7 p.m. Ohio State can clinch home ice advantage for the first round of the CCHA playoffs with a win at BGSU. OSU has not hosted a first round series since the 1983-84 season.%^$
