Penn Earns Big Ten Player of the Week Honors – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior guard Scoonie Penn was selected as the first Big Ten Player of the Week this year and the first at Ohio State since Jan. 11, 1993 when Greg Simpson was the honoree. Penn averaged 20 points and five rebounds in his first two games as a Buckeye.
He led the charge for an average of 30 minutes in those two contests. He connected on 14 of 22 (.636) shots from the field and led OSU with 23 points in the 78-70 win over Alabama. Penn also hit 5 of 9 shots from three-point range and 7 of 10 FTs.
Penn, a native of Salem, Mass., transferred to Ohio State from Boston College. He sat out last season and is playing for the Buckeyes for the first time this season.
Ohio State (2-0) hosts Robert Morris at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Penn State at 8 p.m. Friday. The Penn State game is the earliest Big Ten Conference game in league and Ohio State history.
