Women’s Crew Opens Season at Head of Ohio – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The women’s crew team will begin its fall season in Pittsburgh, Pa. this weekend at the Head of Ohio regatta. The event, sponsored by the Three Rivers Rowing Association, will benefit the Mercy Burn Center through concession sales.
COACH ANDY TEITELBAUM
Entering his fourth season, Coach Teitelbaum has enjoyed much success at the helm of the crew team, compiling an overall varsity record of 55-33. In 1997, Teitelbaum’s second season, he sent his Varsity 4 boat to the NCAA championships and finished second to Connecticut.
In addition to his success in regattas, Teitelbaum has boasted a number of scholar-athletes. Last season, the Buckeyes boasted 13 Academic all-Big Ten selections.
The Somerset, N.J. native began his coaching career at his alma mater, Rutgers, where he served as the Freshman Lightweight Men’s coach. His two boats had a combined dual record of 15-1 with his first boat posting an undefeated regular season and a silver medal at the Eastern Sprints.
Prior to Ohio State, Teitelbaum spent seven years as the Varsity Women’s Crew head coach at Rutgers. In five of those seasons, his teams had Top 10 finishes at the Eastern Championships.
As a rower, Teitelbaum was a member of Rutgers’ most successful crews. During his junior and senior years his boat posted a 16-2 dual record and won two Eastern bronze medals. He also won two U.S. National Championships while rowing for Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, Pa.
Since 1991, Teitelbaum founded and has co-directed the Raritan Valley Rowing Camp for high school boys and girls.
In 1987, Teitelbaum earned a bachelors of arts degree in Economics from Rutgers and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He currently resides in Dublin, Ohio with his wife, Kim.
